about
This EP is based around unusual radio frequencies called ‘numbers stations’. These stations broadcast seemingly random noises and voices across the airwaves on short-wave frequencies. broadcast on specific dates and times, they were used from world war one and in some countries to present day. It is believed that they are a foolproof and uncrackable method used to communicate instructions to spies and agents in the field.
The messages broadcast a musical prelude, a message is then repeated. Using what is commonly referred to as a ‘one time pad’ the listener can decode the message. Using this cryptographic technique, it is practically impossible to decode the messages without prior knowledge of the decryption process.
