This is a bonus track, not originally on Modern History. It was added for the 'first year anniversary' of the album.
This track has been added to 'Modern History' as part of the one year 'birthday' since its release. But I also thought I'd add it here, so you can download it.
Happy now is a track that didn't make the cut, as I felt it was perhaps too overtly political and would probably piss people off a bit (especially Conservative and Brexit voters).
The whole Brexit thing annoyed me, I felt compelled to write a 'poem' about it and put it to music. The whole situation in 2016 until Boris Johnsons absolute shit-house politics was grim (still is). But the Brexit vote pitted us against each other, created an Us vs Them narrative, which I was definitely part of (hence this track). In reality the whole vote was a con and only a very small minority have actually benefitted. Making this helped me make sense of how I felt.
A nation divided
Flag shredded
For what?
lyrics
The gutter press have spoken
We must be enraged
Printed in black and white
It’s time to hate
A problem that didn’t exist
Until we were told
We must take back what is ours
Sovereignty, control
Repeating like chimps
An Eton mans words
Manipulated by a shiny bus
And an oven ready lie
Is a stark reminder
Of the university of life
Witness the slow motion car crash
Into a wall of empty slogans
A demagogue in a poorly fitted suit
Circles the wreck for the kill
Are you happy now?
Whilst murdoch laughs his final breath
And politicians stand, fingers crossed behind their backs
They hoard their Russian cheques
And retract their promises
And still, Populist soundbites
Of misinformation
Smother the airwaves
A nation divided
Torn at the seams
Was it truly worth the trade
Of a bygone era
For a shredded flag
Gloriously primal music that recalls the glory days of early ’80s industrial, icy drum machines clashing with searing synths. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 16, 2021

Cat Temper is back with another helping of searing synthwave; the song titles may be tongue-in-cheek, but the music is no joke. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 23, 2020
